Fossil Fuel

A natural fuel, formed in the geological past from the remains of living organisms. Fossil fuels contain high percentages of carbon and include coal, petroleum, and natural gas. In the United States, more than 90% of greenhouse gas emissions come from the combustion of fossil fuels.
